NEW DRUMMER
As of March 2010 drummer Frans van Gastel will be replaced by Wouter de Buck. Monokino would like to thank Frans for his contribution to the band over the recent years and wish him all the best with his future musical projects. Following several audition rounds, Wouter de Buck from Amsterdam was selected as the new drummer for Monokino. Wouter will play on homemade electronic drums.

MONOKINO AT THE WORLD EXPO 2010
Monokino will perform at the World Exposition between the arrival of Balkenende and members of the Royal House (luckily). On May 7 and 8, Monokino will play at the Dutch Culture Centre in Shanghai.
In addition to the Dutch pavilion, Happy Street by John Körmeling, there will be a multifunctional space in Shanghai where exhibitions, performances and meetings are held. The second building is called the Dutch Culture Center, and is located in the center of Shanghai. The DCC is a completely renovated factory building from the '40s with an area of 1400 m2. It is not clear which other pop bands will play there, but there are rumours about Kraak & Smaak and Kyteman.

Modern Sky Festival in May 2010
There have been problems in the past involving such artists as Oasis, Linkin Park and Bjork. Modern Sky proudly announced last year that at least half of the bands on the main stage would be foreign. Many of the acts like The Buzzcocks, The Futureheads, British Sea Power, International Noise Conspiracy, Radio 4, Heart Revolution and Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt, had already flown into China when they heard that their performance, because of unfathomable reasons, would not take place. With the celebration of 60 years People's Republic of China behind us and the World Expo taking place in Shanghai, it seems it will really happen this year! Monokino at the Modern Sky Festival 2010!

REMIX CD & ACOUSTIC CD
A selection of 19 artists has been made and they will all feature on our 1st remix CD. The songs come from our EP and our debut CD and almost all, turned out very danceable. The remix competition was a great succes,and all artists will receive a copy of the CD.
The remix CD is accompanied by a CD with 9 acoustic songs. The song "New Kid" was sung by American pianist / singer Kristeen Young (known for her tours with Morrissey and her latest album "Music for Strippers, Hookers, and the Odd On-Looker). This version of New Kid was recorded by the legendary Tony Visconti (producer of David Bowie, T-Rex, The Stranglers, Morrissey, Kashmir etc. etc.).
