Razor Crusade is a five piece hardcore band from The Netherlands. 'Are You Wired?' is their debut MCD.The band's unique blend of influences taken from hardcore, emo and indie will most definitely earn them a spot in the forefront of modern European hardcore. With their own distinctive sound, Razor Crusade sounds nothing like what you might expect from a band that features two ex-Reaching Forward members. "We didn't start this band with the intention to start all over and be an oldschool hardcore band and play the same style all over again. We started this band first as a creative outlet and to have fun exploring new musical grounds. So far I feel we are pretty successful doing it" says guitarist Emiel Laurant commenting on the Reaching Forward connection. Successful they are indeed. In November 2002 the band recorded a demo which sold over 400 copies in two months and got them shows with bands such as The Hope Conspiracy, Give Up The Ghost and Snapcase. Reason enough for Reflections Records (know for Face Tomorrow, Give Up The Ghost and Circle among others) to decide to release their first mini CD. "I still can't believe how fast things are going" says drummer Mark Weerts, "less than a year ago I was asked to join this band, now we have the mini being released by Reflections, plus the first tours are being planned as we speak!" Hardly able to hide his enthusiasm about the way things are going for Razor Crusade he is perfectly aware of the backbone of hard work, ambition and taking their music seriously that has made the band come this far in such a short time. Within weeks after the release of 'Are you wired' the band will jump on various tours and road trips that hit up countries such as the UK, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy and Switzerland. "I simply love touring" explains bass player Harm Haverman. When listening to 'Are You Wired?' references to bands such as Quicksand, Snapcase and a quickness era Bad Brains pop into the listeners head immediately. "Those are definitely bands we all love, but I feel there are more influences involved that you can't directly hear in the songs, but are still there. We all love so many different bands that it's hard to pin point where exactly our sound comes from. Also, we are not really concerned with the way we sound or where it comes from, we just wanna make music we love." says singer Sebastian Altena, hitting the nail on the head. It is exactly this approach at writing music that sets the band apart and at the same time will appeal fans of emo, indie and hardcore.
